Section 3 - Solutions where all teeth are missing
These days there are a number of modern, highly effective solutions for patients who have lost all their teeth. A range of secure and comfortable alternatives are now used in place of the traditional removable denture, which many patients find problematic.
The new treatment choices include:
- Stud attached removable dentures. These provide the simplest and most cost-effective solution. The denture is similar to a normal high quality denture, but is more secure because it is held in place by implants (usually a minimum of two in the lower jaw and four in the upper jaw). Costs from £3,465 – lower jaw and £8,900 upper jaw
- Syncone prosthesis. This provides a much stronger and more secure solution, using the latest technology and materials. In particular, it vastly improves patients’ ability to chew properly. It is removable for cleaning, but can otherwise be worn throughout the day and night. Costs from £5,000 – lower jaw and £6,900 upper jaw
- Implant supported bridge. This provides the nearest thing to natural teeth using implant technology. We place a larger number of implants, and use them to support fixed bridgework. It carries significant advantages over other solutions, but does depend on there being sufficient bone present. Costs from £10,750 – lower jaw and £13,480 upper jaw
- Precision milled detachable bridge. This provides the next best thing to natural teeth in complex cases where patients have a significant amount of bone loss due to dental disease or trauma, or if there are other complicating factors which rule out the use of implant supported bridges. Costs from £15,120 per jaw (upper or lower)
