Description

Advantages
- Low cost
- No tooth preparation
- Short treatment time
- Conservative treatment with no surgery required
- Minimal repair and maintenance required
Disadvantages
- Should not be worn at night
- Increased risk of gum disease
- May be uncomfortable
- Significantly reduced taste
Recommended for:
Missing back teeth.

Removable Metal Denture
Description
Metal framed denture with resin teeth attached. The frame is gripped around the remaining teeth and is smaller than acrylic resin dentures.
Advantages
- Medium cost
- Minimal tooth preparation, if any
- Reversible procedure
- Short treatment time
- Less bulky
- Conservative treatment with no surgery
- Minimal repair and maintenance required
Disadvantages
- Should not be worn at night
- Bone loss continues to variable extent
Recommended for:
Rigid fixed teeth secured onto dental implants.

Advantages

- Bone loss stabilised around implants
- Bridge supported by implant so adjacent teeth unaffected
