Meet the team

Mark Haswell is one of our leading specialists at Stradbrook Dental & Implant Clinic. Mark Haswell qualified at Kings in 1987 and has worked at Stradbrook since 1990, becoming a partner in 1993. He is described by his nurse as an “implant anorak” and has been carrying out implant based treatment since 1991, being one of the first UK dentists to undertake an MSc in Implant Dentistry.

He now lectures regularly on all aspects of Implant based treatment. Mark enjoys golf and is a bit of a fitness fanatic, enjoying cycling and running around the Lake District for charity. Mark is married to Sarah and has two children and a border terrier.

Dr Pergamalian qualified from the Dental School of Aristotle, University of Thessaloniki in 1993. Having completed her Vocational Training in the UK, she continued her studies in the USA. After 4 years further training at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, Dr Pergamalian gained her specialist degree and a Master’s degree in Prosthodontics in 2000.

Whilst continuing her training in the US hospital setting, treating complex cases, she earned a certificate in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics in 2001. Since 2002 she has been on the General Dental Council Specialist List and working in Private Practice in both England and Greece with an emphasis on Restorative, Aesthetic and Implant Dentistry. As well as practising Dentistry, Dr Pergamalian teaches undergraduate students at Guy’s Hospital. In 2017 she completed her studies in Clinical Education at King’s College London and became a member of the Higher Education Academy. Dr Pergamalian is also a member of the British Prosthodontic Society, British Dental Association and British Society of Occlusal Studies.

Dr Pergamalian is passionate about dentistry and prides herself on paying attention to detail. She is known for being compassionate, easy to talk to and a great listener. In her spare time, Dr Pergamalian enjoys reading, long walks and travelling.

René Roets qualified at Witwatersrand in South Africa and moved to the UK in 1997. René joined Stradbrook in 1997 as a specialist prosthodontist, from his practice in Cape Town, South Africa. He enjoys sculpting, exploring foreign countries, good food, and has a passion for wildlife. A privileged career has included training undergraduate and postgraduate students in prosthodontics. During his appointment as a senior lecturer at university, he was involved in the running of clinics for temporo-mandibular disorders, maxillo-facial prosthetics and Implantology. His philosophy is that patients should be treated holistically rather than symptomatically. René is married to Madelyn and has two sons and a Lakeland terrier.

Carl Manhem qualified from Dental College, University of Gothenburg, Sweden in 1983. He completed his specialisation in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1994 at University of Linköping, Sweden.

Carl worked in two University Hospitals in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Stockholm, Sweden and Aarhus, Denmark as Assistant Professor for five years. During this period, he also worked at several Implant Clinics and a Private Hospital as a Consultant with implant treatment of patients with all kinds of complex cases. In 1998 he moved to London, England, and worked at the Eastman Dental Institute, University College London. First as a full-time Clinical lecturer at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Implantology until 2002 and from 2002 as a part-time Clinical lecturer at Eastman Dental Institute – continuing Professional Development, University College London to 2018. Carl joined the Stradbrook Dental & Implant Clinic in 2007.

Together with Dr Mark Haswell, Carl Founded AIMH for Continuing Education of Advanced Implantology 2013. His main clinical interests are Implantology, in which he has 30 years of experience, Reconstructive Surgery and Orthognathic Surgery and teaching in the above mentioned areas. Since October 2000, he has run Implantology courses at EDI - CPD, University College London and also lectures nationally and internationally.

Carl is married to Kylie and has five children. He enjoys downhill skiing, golf and going to the gym.

Paul Baker qualified in 1992 from Kings College School of Medicine and Dentistry. He spent two years working in hospital oral and maxillofacial surgery followed by a short stint working in general dental practice. In 1996 he started an MSc in periodontology at Guys Hospital. In 1998 he continued with a Master of Clinical Dentistry degree at Kings College London, which he passed with distinction. He was one of the first dentists to finish a specialist training pathway recognised by the General Dental Council and after passing the Royal College of Surgeons Membership in Restorative Dentistry was awarded a certificate of completion of specialist training in 2000.

Di holds a Master of Science in Implant dentistry from Warwick University, which was awarded with Distinction. Whilst at Warwick he was awarded the Implantology Prize for Best Implant Student 2011 and the prestigious Philips award for Best Overall Postgraduate Dental Masters Student. His research won a world 1st prize at the International association of Dental Research (IADR 2012 Brazil).

He is an honorary Clinical teaching fellow at Warwick University Medical School. He has contributed to articles on implants and implant training in the dental press, and has assisted implant companies in training local GDP’s. He regularly attends scientific seminars and courses in the field of Implantology. He has been trained in the use of Endoret™ PRGF (which enhances the natural healing process) at the famous BTI institute in Spain, and his major interests aside from general and family dentistry are Implantology, advances in the science of healing promotion and regeneration, and dental education.

He has three daughters and a border terrier. He loves dogs and spending time in the country side.

Simon Peter qualified at Kings in 1989. He has worked at Stradbrook since 1993, becoming a partner in 1995. He has a special interests in cosmetic dentistry and facial rejuvenation. He accepts referrals for complicated endodontic treatments.

Simon completed his Msc in restorative dental practice obtaining a distinction at the Eastman dental institute. Full member of British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Platinum member of International Academy of Advanced Facial Aesthetics. Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Member of British Endodontic Society. Post graduate training in Advanced Endodontics in Santa Barbara California. Awarded a diploma in restorative dental practice in 1993. Simon is a passionate Liverpool fan, and enjoys golf, rugby, and going to the gym. Simon is married to Nikki and has two children.

Nikki is a Gold Invisalign Provider with experience in digital smile design, artistic dentistry and smile makeovers. She is a Full Member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and has completed a Post Graduate Award in Orthodontics at the City of London Dental School. She became an Invisalign provider in 2012, and has carried out over 200 cases so is highly experienced in the complete range of treatment options from the short and simple to the more complex, often combining whitening, enamel recontouring and cosmetic bonding when necessary. She prides herself on providing an excellent standard of care and being a General Dentist with considerable experience can look after your mouth as a whole during treatment.

Nikki started her career in 1988 at Kings College Hospital, working in both adult and children’s restorative dentistry. She then moved into general practice, developing a special interest in minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry over several years. She has a holistic, preventative philosophy and enjoys creating confident, healthy smiles in patients of all ages.

Ben qualified at the University of Sheffield in 2001 and has worked at Stradbrook since 2008.

He has a special interest in periodontology having completed a Masters in Clinical Periodontology. He offers Periodontology (gum disease) consultations and therapy consisting of non-surgical or surgical treatment for the improvement of oral health and to provide restorative solutions.

Ben is an Invisalign full provider and has been treating patients with Invisalign since 2018, This is the straightening and movement of teeth using clear trays or aligners. He uses this often in combination with composite bonding to deliver “your best smile”. He is experienced in all aspects of general dentistry (fillings, root canal, crowns, bridges, whitening, veneers, preventative therapy, extractions) and enjoys providing his patients with healthy teeth and happy smiles via the highest standard of care.

Ben is a firm believer in lifelong learning and continues to develop his knowledge and skills for the benefit of his patients. Ben is married to Louise and they have three children. He enjoys cycling and swimming in any spare time he gets.

Ravi graduated from Guys King's and St Thomas (GKT) and soon attained his membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS RCSEd). He has worked in both King's College and Sidcup Hospital where he obtained an accreditation with a special interest in Oral Surgery. Since working in practice he has developed his skills and offers patients a full range of treatments including intravenous sedation for nervous patients. Ravi looks forward to developing his skills as he has recently embarked on a MSC in Implantology.

Having experience of being a vocational trainer he has had the opportunity to mentor newly qualified dentists.

Outside of dentistry Ravi a enjoys hiking, has a love for cricket and is a keen gardener.

Nyan qualified as a dentist at Guys & St Thomas’ Hospital, London in 1999 and has worked in London and Kent ever since.

He has undertaken many postgraduate courses including a postgraduate course in Implant Dentistry (Royal College of Surgeons, London).

Nyan joined Stradbrook Dental Practice in November 2015 and he has built up a reputation of being a caring and kind dentist. Nyan enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, particularly full mouth rehabilitation cases. He has special interests in:

Jelena wanted to become a dentist ever since she was a child. Excellent personal experiences with her childhood dentist made her wish that one day patients might experience the same with her, which prompted her to pursue a career in dentistry. Understanding how important it is to have a positive association with one`s oral health and visits to the dentist, Jelena is truly dedicated to making each visit a positive experience.

Jelena originally graduated with distinctions from the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University Belgrade, Serbia in 2009. After a year of foundation training she began working in a prestigious private practice looking after her patients` oral health, covering all aspects of general dentistry with a focus on children’s dentistry.

Jelena is committed to continuously developing her knowledge and skills, and has completed a Master`s course in Prosthodontics (University of Belgrade, Serbia), and has done postgraduate training in Periodontology and Oral Medicine (University of Belgrade, Serbia). Having moved to the UK in 2016, Jelena became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2018, having been accredited with the title License in Dental Surgery (LDS RCS).

She has been a part of the Stradbrook team since 2019 and enjoys providing treatment in all fields of general dentistry. Dedicated to providing the highest level of patient care, she has completed different courses regarding endodontic treatment, minor oral surgery and is enrolled in a year-long course furthering her skills in Aesthetic and Restorative dentistry. In her spare time she likes exploring the glorious outdoors with her husband and two young boys.

Kunal is from Bromley and was schooled locally. He graduated from the University of Manchester in 2010, after which he completed a year as a Senior House Officer in Oral Surgery at the world renowned Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. In 2012, Kunal moved to the sunnier shores of Sydney in Australia, where he gained experience in providing high quality private dentistry for 5 years before moving back to Bromley, where he is now permanently based.

Kunal has since completed a Master’s Degree in Implant Dentistry, which has been invaluable in offering patients natural looking and feeling replacements for badly broken or missing teeth. He also enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and believes that prevention is always better than cure. Kunal has furthered his knowledge in all forms of aesthetic dentistry, including the completion of Invisalign and Facial Aesthetics courses.

In his spare time, Kunal enjoys cooking, theatre, cricket and travelling with his wife, who is also a dentist.
